Wave Effect
The Wave effect is a really neat abstract...thing you can do with photoshop if you need a background for something like a button, avatar, or wallpaper. Or it's just really cool to look at.
x Create a new document in PS, preferably sqaured.
x Press D to get the default colors on your pallette
x Go to filter >> render >> clouds
x Now go to filter >> render >> difference clouds
x Go to the filter menu and under brush stroke, choose accented edges.
Accented Edges settings:
x Edge width: 2
x Edge brightness: 32
x Smoothness: 5
It should look like this so far:
x Now go to filter >> artistic >> plastic wrap and click OK
x Go to filter once again and choose sketch >> water paper and use
these settings:
Water paper settings:
x Filter Length: 15
x Brightness: 80
x Contrast: 80
My image now looks like this:
x Go to filter >> distort >> poloar coordinates and choose polar
to rectangular.
x Finally go to filter >> distort >> wave and play around with what they
give you until you get something you like.
After that, copy the layer and paste it. then go to Image >> Adjustments >> Hue/Saturation.
In the check box in the menu, select "colorize" and change the colors around to your desires.
You can do this more than once:
x Copy the original black and white layer
x Colorize it again (this time, a different color)
x Paste it on top of the other layers
x Go to edit >> transform and rotate it or flip it
x Go to your layers window, and where it says "normal", choose overlay.
x Repeat as desired.
Here is how mine turned out:
